The first Monday Night Raw of the year kicked off fairly well with the return of Brock Lesnar, a great match between Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe, and the first ever main roster encounter between Asuka and Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss. The progression of Woken Matt Hardy has been disappointing to say the least, with the company investing way too much in a ridiculous laugh that just makes everyone uncomfortable and turns off fans who already loved the Broken gimmick. Lesnar’s return was also something of a waste, as a rushed promo from Paul Heyman lead to a nothing encounter with Kane that ended in about 3 seconds of brawling.
