Former design assistant to Vivienne Westwood, Luca Marchetto and former
milliner to Stephen Jones, Jordan Bowen, otherwise known as the design duo
behind the London-based urban brand 8DIX, have teamed up animal rights
organisation PETA to launch an exclusive line of t-shirts.
With a cheeky tagline aimed to encourage consumers to ‘try vegan’ each
t-shirt design focuses on the issues surrounding the fur, leather and meat
industries in a playful manner. Keen to share their pro-vegan message the
duo explain why they decided to work with PETA on the capsule collection.
“[Y]ou are working for fashion, which is an industry about beauty. I just
don’t get how you could end up with furs”, said Marchetto in a statement.
“Fur is death. It’s coming from suffering, it’s coming from fear, it’s
coming from terror, and I don’t think there’s anything glamorous about it.”
Made from organic cotton, the t-shirts are available in two styles and will
be available from this weekend onwards on the 8DIX website. Retailing for
35 pounds, part of the proceeds from each sale will be donated to PETA.
