MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team will travel to Minneapolis to face Division 3 power Augsburg College on Thursday night. The dual starts at 7 p.m.
MSUM is 1-1 in duals this season while Augsburg, which is ranked No. 2 in the nation in Division III, is 4-1 in duals.
The Dragons are coming off a successful Dragon Open, where they had 13 wrestlers place in the upper division, including junior Adam Blees, who won the championship at 174 pounds with an overtime win over Charley Popp of North Dakota State. Redshirt freshman Mitch Kotschevar, junior Zach Scott and sophomore Preston Lehmann each picked up runner-up finishes.
The Dragons are led this season by Blees, who has compiled a 12-3 record this season and is ranked seventh in the nation at 174 pounds.
Redshirt freshman Jaxon Seufzer has a 4-1 record at 197 pounds. While redshirt freshman Evan Foster has a 9-3 record so far this season, competing unattached at 197. Freshman Mason Schulz has a 13-6 record this season (competing unattached) while competing unattached, while redshirt freshman Seth Hutchison has a 6-3 record.

Previous meetings with Augsburg
The last time the Dragons faced the Auggies was on Dec. 8, 2016, when Augsburg defeated the Dragons 25-12. Dragon assistant coach Blake Bosch picked up a tech fall win in the dual, along with Nader Abdullatif and Kristian Vazquez, who each picked up wins.

Head coach Kris Nelson is in his ninth season at the helm. He is assisted by Blake Bosch (first season), Justin Solberg (third season), Bret Maughan (third season) and Tyler Lehmann (first season)
Scouting the Opposition
The Auggies are led by Lucas Jeske, who has compiled a 7-0 record and is ranked No. 1 in the country at 165 pounds. Also undefeated on the season is Ryan Epps, who is 6-0 and is ranked No. 5 in the country at 157 pounds. Overall, the Auggies are 4-1, with their lone loss coming to Loras College. Head coach Jim Moulsoff is in his fourth season as head coach of the Auggies.
Looking Ahead
The Dragons will next be in action on Dec. 16 when they travel to Indianapolis for the Midwest Classic.
