Raw last night, coming after SummerSlam, continued its string of four weeks in a row with the best numbers since April.
Last night’s show did 3.39 million viewers, the best number since the 4/10 Superstar shakeup episode of Raw did 3.42 million viewers. The Raw after SummerSlam traditionally does well, but this was a rare occasion of beating the same number from the year before as last year’s show did 3.30 million viewers.
It indicates that the key programs are resonating better with viewers than they were one year ago. The number was up five percent from the 3.22 million viewers last week.
There was still an across the board strong third hour decline of ten percent with the show peaking strongly in hour two, even with John Cena & Roman Reigns being put together as a tag team in the main event against Samoa Joe & The Miz.
Even better news is the show went against stronger than usual competition with the presidential address (5.11 million viewers) and NFL preseasonfootball (3.57 million viewers)).
Raw was fourth for the night on cable, but did beat everything on television except the NFL from 10:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
