Overnight ratings for last night’s SmackDown are in and — for the first time on FOX — the show fell below two million viewers for both hours.
The final average was 1.919 million viewers. The show averaged 1.941 million viewers in hour one and fell two percent to 1.896 million in the second hour.
In the 18-49 demo, SmackDown averaged a 0.5 rating, matching last week for the lowest the show has done in that category since debuting on FOX. That trailed everything on network TV last night except for a repeat 20/20 special on ABC and tying with an episode of The Blacklist on NBC. SmackDown usually wins that demo, but the show has lost about 20 percent of its viewership since the move to closed set episodes.
The show averaged just a 0.2 rating in the 18-34 category, trailing everything on network TV except for 20/20.
The decline has been slow but consistent, with SmackDown losing anywhere from one to nine percent of its audience every week since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. The exception was the WrestleMania go-home show, which was even with the previous week.
