British high street retailer River Island has launched a new online
calculator to help consumers work out exactly what their wardrobe is really
worth.
The tool, which is currently available via Riverisland.com is open to all
UK consumers and allows its users to compare their wardrobe total to other
users in the UK, to see how much or little their wardrobe is worth. The
online calculator is divided into categories, such as shoes, dresses and
handbags to simplify calculations and asks users to enter the amount of
each item they have, and whether the item in question is either a high
street brand or designer brand.
In order to find out what the average River Island consumer’s wardrobe is
worth, the fashion retailer surveyed 1,000 shoppers. On average consumers
owe 3,600 pounds worth of shoes, as they spend more on footwear than
anything else, with the category accounting for close to a quarter of the
total clothing budget. Women own nearly three times as many pairs of shoes
than men and are more willing to spend over 100 pounds on their wardrobe
each month.
River Island’s wardrobe calculator is part of it’s Autumn/Winter 2016-2016
campaign.
