For years now, Impact Wrestling has broadcast most of their television shows at Universal Studios Florida in Orlando. Universal has been their home for several years now and taping shows outside of the theme park was only done occasionally. It appears as though Impact might be abandoning Florida to tape more shows in Canada. During a recent set of TV tapings in Ottawa, Jeremy Borash announced that the company was now based in the country. This move has apparently been in the works for a while now. The company plans to hold more shows in Canada as Borash assured fans at the tapings that they would be visiting the country much more often now.
A lot of shakeups and changes have taken place within Impact Wrestling as of late, especially since it was announced that Jeff Jarrett had been fired from the company. Backstage roles and creative alterations have been made during Impact’s TV tapings in Ottawa this week. PWInsider reports that Scott D’Amore is now in charge of creative for the company. D’Amore, Sonjay Dutt, and Abyss all produce the matches for the male roster members while Gail Kim does so for the female talent. Jimmy Jacobs recently debuted at the Bound for Glory event as a manager for the company and he has been working as a producer during the tapings as well.
PWInsider continues to report that James Storm may be on his way out of Impact Wrestling very soon. His contract expires in January, but since the tapings in Ottawa will cover beyond January, Storm’s last night with the company could be tonight. He and several other higher paid talents are all said to be considering leaving the company since they have reportedly been asked to take a pay cut due in favor of bringing in some newer talent from the Canadian area. James Storm has been with the company for several years (aside from when he had a brief NXT run), so losing him would definitely be devastating at the list of departures from Impact this year continues to grow.
