Athletic brands Nike and Adidas were the most popular brands in 2015,
according to user searches across Polyvore, toppling fast-fashion retailers
Topshop, H&M and Forever 21 who topped the social-commerce website ranking
last year.
The top five most popular brands searched for this year on Polyvore were
rounded out by Givenchy, Fendi and Converse.
In the 2014 Year in Review fast-fashion retailers was dominated, taking
nine of the 10 most popular brands, this year the only one to make the cut
in the ‘Most Liked Brands’ category was Zara, coming in at number 10.
It seems 2015 for Polyvore’s young millennials was all about athletic
wear and luxury designer brands, the remainder of the top 10 searched for
brands were Vans, Chanel, Christian Louboutin and Valentino.
Topshop, which took the number-one spot in 2014, could only make 35th
place this year, while H&M, last year’s number two dropped down to 27th.
The fashion site also stated that its community was obsessed with
channelling its inner Carrie Bradshaw this year with tulle skirts coming in
as the most sought-after style, closely followed by gladiator sandals and
denim dresses. The top 10 fashion obsessions of 2015 also included
athleisure staples including midi skirts, high neck swimwear, and crop
tops.
