New York – Cedric Charlier has been hearing his customers discuss how fantastic it
would be if he finally did a men’s line for a while. After years of those
little voices coming at him from every angle, the designer has taken heed
to their word. In January 2017, he will be introducing a menswear
collection that will be shown alongside his women’s line.
Italian fashion group Aeffe, which took on the license for Charlier’s
women’s wear line in 2012, will also be taking on his men’s line.
“I believed in the talent and vision of Cédric Charlier
from
the start,” said Aeffe executive chairman Massimo Ferretti to WWD. “We have
been producing his line for four years now and his work has very much grown
and matured. He has built a very precise aesthetic that has a loyal,
supporting customer and finally the moment has come to consistently expand
his brand with his longtime dream: to create a men’s collection. It is not
difficult to imagine Charlier’s man as a natural extension of the women’s
collection.”
A big thank
you to everyone who made our New York spring/summer 2017 show possible !

PDT“I’m happy, I’m finally realizing my dream. I’ve wanted to do a men’s
collection since the very beginning,” Charlier added.Charlier was once a creative director at Cacharel. He also previously
worked at Celine under Michael Kors and Jean Paul Knott and at Lanvin under
Alber Elbaz. The designer will still be including some of his signature
staples into his collection, such as geometric cuts and and vibrant colors.Charlier doesn’t believe in the see-now-buy-now approach as part of his
philosophy, but has said that there will be a few pieces available
immediately after the show.Although there is no discussion of what buyers are looking at his menswear line yet, his women’s wear line is carried by over 200 multibrand
retailers, and department stores including Barneys New York, Dover Street
Market, and Printemps.FashionUnited will focus on the menswear catwalk season during the month of June, by featuring exclusive and in-depth coverage on Men’s Fashion Weeks. More on Pitti: . For all reads, click .
