WWE Hall Of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan recently appeared as a guest on Jim Ross’ weekly “Ross Report” podcast at PodcastOne.com and spoke about a number of current wrestling-related topics. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.
On thinking Daniel Bryan wouldn’t make it when seeing him early in his career:
“That’s what I tell kids. There’s a guy who had the desire and heart. When I first met him, I said, ‘I don’t think he’s going to make it.’ But he worked hard, had the heart, the desire, and the drive. And he became a great wrestler, so I say, ‘chase your dreams because you never know.’ Every once in a while, that brass ring, you grab it.”
On working with The Rock’s grandfather Peter Maivia and father Rocky Johnson:
“I went up [to New York] and I worked with Vince [McMahon], Sr. a little bit and they sent me to Hawaii where I worked for Maivia. So I said I worked with The Rock’s grandfather, I worked with The Rock’s father, and I may get The Rock at WrestleMania! Yeah right! Not a chance in hell!”
