Luxury brand Aquascutum returned to London Fashion Week with a sexy
presentation to mark the debut of young British designer Kasha Crampton,
which saw models draped across fine, eclectic furniture, while sipped
champagne lounging around the Georgian townhouse salon.
This was the first collection from the new Aquascutum in-house designer
Crampton who took inspiration for the signature floral prints from
contemporary Japanese photographer Noboyushi Araki, famous for his
provocative imagery, as well as the luxurious and hypersexualised imagery
of Helmut Newton.
The Hong Kong-owned rainwear brand, of course, featured its famous
trench coat, which has been updated with more contemporary silhouettes that
have a subtle flash of the signature club check whether in the lining or
under the collar. The trench coats are available to buy now, which is
appropriate as the showcase happened which it was pouring down with rain
outside.
The other pieces of the spring/summer 2017 womenswear collection
featured a clash of eras, fabrics and textures with a more feminine, sexy
feel than we’ve seen previously from Aquascutum. The silk dresses and
signature red floral prints were juxtaposed against crafted leather cuffs,
sensual chokers and scarves, designed by brand Fleet Ilya, which were
wrapped tightly around several of the girls’ necks and thighs.
Every ten minutes, there was a rotation of models throughout the
decadent salon, one model stood playing pool, while another one straddled
the sofa, whilst others sat sipping glasses of Charles Heidsieck champagne
and whisky. There was also one lone male model dressed in a slightly
dishevelled black tie, to leave us all wondering what happened in the room
before we all arrived.
The overall message of Crampton’s debut collection, “liberation, power
and elegance” and of course not forgetting “sexy”.
