Danny Welbeck is interesting Serie A side Lazio, who could make a summer move for the Arsenal striker.
Welbeck has been included in the Arsenal squad for their Europa League final clash with Chelsea in Baku, Azerbaijan, next Wednesday and could be on the bench.
The 28-year-old reportedly played in Thursday’s behind-closed-doors game against Austrian side LASK Linz, as Unai Emery assessed his squad.
The England striker has not featured for the Gunners since breaking his ankle in a 0-0 draw with Sporting Lisbon back in November and is available on a free transfer as his contract expires on June 30 and the club have confirmed it will not be renewed.
Lazio are among the clubs said to be monitoring his situation, according to The Sun.
Everton, West Ham and Newcastle are also in the hunt for the forward, who wants to secure regular first-team football and add to his 42 England caps.
Welbeck was handed a memento from Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick, with the stadium announcer adding that the former Manchester United man would be “missed in the dressing room” as he he bid farewell at the Emirates along with Petr Cech and Aaron Ramsey after the final home game of the season against Brighton.
Emery, who has been asked about the striker’s contract situation recently and given nothing away, confirmed his departure at the end of his press conference.
“I spoke with the club about this situation. The decision is he’s going to leave,” he said.
Welbeck joined Arsenal from United in 2014 and won the FA Cup with the north London side, where he was often utilised as an attacking option off the bench, but has had an injury-plagued five seasons at the club.
