As we noted earlier this week, via PWInsider.com, Impact Wrestling officials Ed Nordholm and Scott D’Amore met with WWE officials at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, CT, sometime last week.
While details of the meeting are sketchy, it was reportedly not about Impact possibly selling the company to WWE.
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Impact initiated the meeting, and pitched an idea to WWE, which is rumored to be regarding the TNA tape library and the WWE Network.
The report adds that while Impact Wrestling continues to improve creatively, the reality of the situation is that the company’s TV deal with Pop TV pays very little, and with Impact making less with their new UK deal, their only strong revenue stream from TV comes from their deal in India. Taking the aforementioned into consideration, it’s possible Impact pitched to WWE the idea of licensing some of their tape library for use on the WWE Network or for other WWE related projects.
