This Wednesday night, the outstanding Australian Toni Storm scored an incredibly hard-fought battle against perhaps the most veteran women’s wrestler in the world today, the joshi legend Meiko Satomura.
Storm, who has been under WWE contract for quite some time and competed in the inaugural MYC last year, has been established as something of a “joshi-killer” in this year’s tournament, defeating Hiroyo Matsumoto in the Round of 16, former Impact Knockouts Champion Mia Yim in the quarterfinal round, before barely upsetting 23-year veteran Satomura in the semifinals.
Storm will join Io Shirai in the Mae Young Classic finals this Sunday at WWE Evolution. Shirai is considered by many to be the single greatest women’s wrestler in the world today, with 13 reigns with different championships all for the Stardom promotion in Japan.
