There has apparently been some confusion on the status of WWE Superstar Johnny Gargano following his main event championship match with Tommaso Ciampa this past weekend at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 4.
The finish of the match saw Gargano deliver a series of running knee strikes to a handcuffed Ciampa, until accidentally sending himself flying into the production area, seemingly injuring himself in the process. The later would soon after retain his title via a ten-count from the referee.

Following the match, Triple H stated in a media call that Johnny may have suffered a “dislocated knee”, leading to speculation that the NXT Superstar may have legitimately hurt himself. Some outlets even reported that the finish of the match was changed at the last second, and that there was originally a different plan in play that had to be altered on the fly to accommodate the injury.
The theory was that he would be written off television, but we can now confirm that is not the case at all. Not only did Johnny Gargano appear at Thursday night’s WWE NXT television tapings at Full Sail University, involving himself in a lengthy in-ring promo segment, he also competed in singles action against The Velveteen Dream.
We’re not going to spoil the outcome of that match or reveal any more information here, but for complete WWE NXT television taping results (SPOILER WARNING) check out this link.
