While an official announcement has not yet been made, IMPACT Wrestling has pulled former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann from tonight’s Slammiversary PPV.
Swann suffered what is believed to be a serious concussion at a recent MLW television taping event, during a tag team match pitting himself and ACH against the new age Hart Foundation, Teddy Hart and Davey Boy Smith Jr. According to live reports, Swann hit his head on the guardrail during a spot and was hospitalized the same evening, with IMPACT management monitoring the situation.
ProWrestling.com’s Mike Killam spoke to Swann’s wife, Vannarah Riggs (aka Knockouts Champion Su Yung) on Saturday night, who noted that her husband is at home resting, awaiting test results from their doctor, and that they were hoping for the best in an unfortunate situation.
At this point, neither Swann or IMPACT Wrestling has made an official announcement regarding his status on the show and it is currently unknown if IMPACT will replace Swann or leave the match as a triple threat, but as always, we’ll keep you posted with the very latest as the situation develops.
