Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has confirmed his ex-team mate Frank Lampard is in talks with the Blues over becoming their new manager.
The vacancy is available at Stamford Bridge after Maurizio Sarri joined Juventus, and the Chelsea legend has been strongly tipped to return.
During an Instagram live video, a fan asked the Ivorian who he thinks would be the best Chelsea manager.
To which Drogba replied: “The one who is in talks now to get the job – Frank Lampard.”
Asked further about the possible appointment, the Champions League-winning striker said: “Relax! Relax!”
Prior to Soccer Aid 2019, Drogba, who played with Lampard from 2004 to 2012, hailed his efforts with Derby and also praised former Chelsea captain John Terry, who is assistant manager with Aston Villa.

“They’ve given so much to the game and Chelsea Football Club.
“When you told me this was the direction he [Lampard] wants to take, I knew he would do great because he’s got all the qualities required.
“He listens, he’s a winner, he works hard, like John did. They are good guys and hard workers.”
Lampard is hugely popular at Derby, having led them to the Championship play-off final in his first season in charge, and the Rams are set to offer him a new bumper deal in an attempt to fend off interest from Chelsea.
The Mirror claim Derby have offered him a lucrative £10million contract, with chairman Mel Morris believed to be willing to pay Lampard an annual £2.5million salary on a four-year deal.
