NikeLab, which creates high-end fashion from classic footwear and
apparel, has unveiled its latest collaboration with tennis player Roger
Federer ahead of this week’s Wimbledon championship.
The “off-court” collection embodies Federer’s “graceful style” and is
the latest in NikeLab’s Summer of Sport celebration, which last month
included a football collaboration with Balmain creative director Olivier
Rousteing to coincide with UEFA Euro 2016, currently underway in France.
Nike states that Federer’s insights have ranged from “material, colour
and silhouette preferences to personal stories” to inform the collection’s
design. With the graphics and zips connecting to the 17-time Grand Slam
champion’s legacy, while “movement-conscious construction finished with
grosgrain detailing reflects his appreciation of premium craftsmanship”.
The NikeCourt x Roger Federer collection contains apparel such as tops,
jackets, and trousers, as well as footwear, including a reworking of the
Nike flyknit shoe in navy and grey options. Prices range from 82 pounds for
a NikeCourt x RF Polo to 215 pounds for a NikeCourt N98 x RF Jacket.
The collaboration has launched exclusively at the NikeLab 1948 LDN store
on Bateman’s Row, ahead of a global rollout to select NikeLab stores and
online at nike.com/nikelab from June 30.
