The Creative Industries Federation, which represents the public arts,
cultural education and creative industries across the UK, has pledged to
“safeguard” the future of the industry and its contribution to the economy
in light of the UK’s vote to leave the European Union.
Chief executive of the Creative Industries Federation, John Kampfner
said: “As the UK creates a new identity and a new position on the world
stage, our arts and creative industries, the fastest growing sector in the
economy, will play an important role.
“It will be vital for all sides to work together to ensure that the
interests of our sector on issues including access to funding and talent
are safeguarded as the UK forges its new relationship with Europe. The
importance of British culture in representing our country to the world will
be greater than ever.”
To safeguard the future of the UK’s arts, creative industries and
cultural education, the Creative Industries Federation, whose members
showed more than 96 percent support for Remain, has stated that it will
hold a series of events to help the creative community plan for a future
out of the EU, with full details to be announced in the coming weeks.
The Creative Industries Federation ended its statement with a call for
post-Brexit unity, adding that the arts can play a significant role in
mending the referendum campaign that highlighted deep social, geographic
and economic divisions across the country.
“Within the UK, we will play our part in helping to bridge divides within
and between the nations and regions of the country,” said the Creative
Industries Federation.
