Stella McCartney has spent years transforming menswear to be suitable for
the likes of female vegan luxury fashion lovers. For those men who have
always loved her brand and her work, and who also want vegan approved
luxury goods, your dreams have finally come true. The designer has
announced today at Pitti Uomo that the long-rumored plans of her doing a
men’s wear line are true.
The line will debut on November 10 in London alongside her women’s
collection, which is usually presented in May, but the designer has decided
to move to a see-now-buy-now schedule, with the show taking place just
before the clothes go on public sale. The men’s wear will be sold a month
after its debut hitting stores in early December.
“The desire to marry the Stella woman to a man has been inside me since the
very beginning,” said McCartney when she announced the news.
“My time on savile Row inspired so much of what I do, and it feels like the
right moment to talk to men and give them what they deserve. I want to
deliver to men what I deliver to women,” she went on to say.
The menswear will be leather and shearling free, with a full collection
including suits, separates, outerwear, and accessories. Eyewear is also in
the works.
Here is what is unique about the collection though, unlike her women’s wear
which follows the traditional fashion calendar, the line will be shown with
Stella McCartney pre-collections instead of on the traditional men’s wear
schedule. The line will be called something like Collection One and
Collection Two, versus fall/winter or spring/summer. It will be sold to
wholesalers a few months before it is shown to the press and public. The
idea behind this is that men shop differently from women, and if they see
something they like they want to get it immediately.
It’s been a busy time for McCartney. Her latest fragrance POP is set to
launch in July, in addition to her first swim wear collection. In August,
her collaboration with Adidas for Team GB will make its debut for
spring/summer 2016 at the Olympic Rio games. This men’s line is just the
next jewel in her crown.
FashionUnited will focus on the menswear catwalk season during the month of June, by featuring exclusive and in-depth coverage on Men’s Fashion Weeks. More on Pitti: . For all reads, click .
