In the build up to this Sunday’s Le Classique between Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille at the Parc des Princes, it will be the first time that Alexis Sánchez and Lionel Messi face each other in Ligue 1 since they were teammates together at Barcelona. L’Équipe report that the two have a deep respect for each-other, despite Sánchez playing often in the shadow of the Barcelona star in Catalonia.
Former Barcelona and OM sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta spoke about the friendship that the two had during their time together:
“Leo was especially close to Cesc Fabregas and Daniel Alves, but he and Alexis got on very well and had great respect for each other. The dressing room had many great players, but I never felt any jealousy or battle of egos between anyone. Alexis has always shown a fierce will to adapt, in a team where winning was not enough.”

There will be a battle within the match that will be played this Sunday evening on the pitch of the Parc des Princes, between the two stars hailing from the southern tip of South America. They were team-mates at Barcelona for three seasons (2011-2014) and regular opponents in the national team, the Argentinian Lionel Messi (35) and the Chilean Alexis Sanchez (33) will meet again this time in Le Classique.
