Australian industrial designer Marc Newson has been tasked by Louis Vuitton with redesigning its iconic trunk collection. The result is a ‘mobile turns for the 21st-century traveller’.
Newson, who first collaborated with Louis Vuitton in 2014 when he designed a playful backpack for the brand, designed the range with wheels and a flat bottom, and improved storage space in the interior thanks to ‘the enlarged outer handle design’ with has resulted in 15 percent more room inside. In addition, the cases are made from a new polypropylene material which is extra light in its handling.

Despite various improvements to the design, which also include undetectable secure locks and retractable handles, the signature design details remain the same. Both the reinforced leather at the corners of the cases, as well as the brand’s monogram material feature in the new designs.
The range is available in three sizes – a maxi, cabin, and mini version – in a variety of decorative designs and in seven colours.
