Presque 13 ans au poste de Premier ministre, le plus long mandat de l’histoire des Pays-Bas. La démission de Mark Rutte, vendredi 7 juillet dans la soirée, est un bouleversement pour le pays. La coalition qui l’avait portée au pouvoir s’est brisée au sujet de la politique migratoire. “Ce soir, nous sommes parvenus à la conclusion que les différents étaient insurmontables”, a précisé le Premier ministre.
Mark Rutte, figure de la droite libérale, avait proposé ces derniers jours une série de mesures controversées pour durcir l’accueil des demandeurs d’asile, comme des quotas sur le nombre d’enfants autorisés à rejoindre leurs parents. Les partis du centre et de centre-gauche, membres de la coalition, ont refusé. La crise migratoire est devenue une crise politique. Des dizaines de Néerlandais se sont rassemblés devant le centre du pouvoir national à La Haye (Pays-Bas). De nouvelles élections seront organisées au plus tôt mi-novembre.
