Cette réforme judiciaire, qui a déclenché depuis sa présentation en janvier un large mouvement de protestation, doit être votée lundi 24 juillet à la Knesset. Dans la ville côtière, pour la 29e semaine consécutive, les manifestants se sont retrouvés sur la rue Kaplan, rebaptisée “place de la démocratie.” Une participante se réjouit de la mobilisation : “Il y a tellement de gens à Jérusalem et pourtant nous sommes énormément de personnes ici. De tous les âges, des parents avec des jeunes enfants, des bébés dans les bras, mais aussi des personnes âgées avec des déambulateurs, c’est très émouvant.”
“Cela ouvrira la voie à l’adoption de lois supplémentaires, le gouvernement pourra adopter toutes les lois qu’il souhaite et sans contrôle judiciaire.”
