HATBORO, PA —The order came in from Arizona.
Kathleen Lochel, co-owner of Lochel’s Bakery on South York Road, told Patch Thursday morning that she received an order of four dozen “Trump cookies” for the bakery to give away because the woman wanted to support a bakery in the state where the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump took place.
The bakery has sold its popular political cookies since 2012 and this year’s cookies feature a red one saying “Trump 2024” and a blue one starting “Biden 2024” for President Joseph Biden.
Lochel started selling the cookies for the presidential debate in late June and rolled them out again for the Republican National Convention. She will do the same for the Democratic National Convention.
But the cookie sales are in the red with Biden’s poor debate performance and Trump’s assassination attempt.
Lochel said there have been 442 Trump cookies sold and 12 for the president.
“I’m trying to push both colors both parties but the people who are coming in are choosing the red it’s not the bakery choosing the red it’s the people coming in,” Lochel said.
Lochel has sold the cookies in the bakery and is taking orders online.
“Shipping is coming in from all over. I’m not surprised,” she said. “People want the cookie.
Lochel said she took six more orders for shipping on Thursday morning —and they were all red cookies for Trump.
“We’d love certainly for somebody to order blue cookies. We welcome all parties,” she said. “It just so happened that the attempted assassination happened in Pennsylvania on Saturday so I guess that it did help somewhat but I think we would have sold close to as many regardless because of the convention.”
During the last election, Biden won as president but Trump won the cookie war at the bakery: 31,804 to Biden’s 5,750.

The bakery said it will sell the political cookies again in store from Sept. 5 through the Nov. 5 general election.
