CONCORD, NH — Concord police and fire and rescue teams were sent to a crash near the Sheep Davis Road and Loudon Road intersection early Thursday morning, that led to an impaired driving arrest.
Just before 1 a.m., police dispatch began receiving 911 calls about the crash as well as an automatic crash notification in the area of Route 106 and Loudon Road. The dispatcher said a witness was out with the driver and they appeared to be OK.
The first officer ran the vehicle’s plate, a Jeep Gladiator with a Massachusetts registration, and dispatch told the officer county dispatchers had been receiving calls about vehicle operation complaints for the vehicle “all night long.” The dispatcher confirmed the calls about the vehicle. The dispatcher stated an officer in another jurisdiction followed the vehicle earlier but did not see any infractions.
The officer requested fire and rescue teams to evaluate the driver, a woman, and dispatch said a tow truck was also called for the vehicle. The fire commander reported the Jeep was far down into the woods. The officer said the first tow truck could not pull the Jeep out of the ditch, so a second one was requested.
The driver, just before 1:30 a.m., refused transportation to the hospital, and fire and rescue teams cleared.
Not long after the medical transport refusal, an officer told dispatch they were checking to see if the driver was intoxicated. After about 10 minutes, an officer reported the driver was under arrest due to driving under the influence of drugs, according to scanner chatter.
Armenda Stella, 38, of Cambridge, MA, was arrested on a DUI charge as well as a lane control violation.
News 603 posted a video of the Jeep being pulled out of a ditch after the crash.
