HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale School District 181 students’ test scores last school year were well above the numbers from 2019, the last year before the pandemic.
Last week, the state released data for schools across the state.
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness has been given annually to third through eighth graders since 2019 (2020 excluded).
In District 181, 83 percent of District 181’s test-takers met or exceeded state standards on the assessment’s English language arts section last school year. That is the highest rate since 2019, when it was 71 percent.
In math, 77 percent of students met state benchmarks, above the 72 percent in 2019.
“Our district’s dedication to continuous improvement is evident in these positive results,” Jeffrey Alstadt, the district’s director of communications, said in a public statement last week. “We will build on this momentum by strengthening team collaboration, focusing on our learning standards, and providing targeted support to struggling students.”
Statewide, 41 percent of students met standards in English language arts on the assessment last school year. Meanwhile, 28 percent did so in math.
District 181, with an enrollment of 3,531 students, reports that 2 percent of them come from low-income families. Statewide, nearly half fall in that category.
Patch reported on Hinsdale Central and South high schools’ test scores last week.
The newly released data is on the Illinois Report Card website.
