Independent emerging designer platform Not Just A Label (NJAL) has added
300 new designers from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to
its e-commerce, as part of its ongoing partnership with Dubai Design
District to help “drive innovation in retail and support creative minds”
across the region.
Most of the designer collections span across ready-to-wear, jewellery
and accessories and are available to buy for the first time and have been
sourced from Dubai to Morocco and Lebanon.
New designers including Dubai-based Khulood Thani who has studied at
ESMOD Paris, Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion, Haifa
Fahad who is known for jewel encrusted, hand-embroidered pieces, and label
Salta that using sustainable materials, such as organic cotton and
linen.
Other designers include Zaid Farouki, Margherita, Bashar Assaf, HZ by
Hissa Zainal, Lara Khoury and Alia Bin Omair.
Dubai Design District, known as D3, aims to engage, inspire and enable
emerging talent, as well as provide a platform to showcase Arab creativity
to a larger, global audience. By 2018, it will feature a one million square
foot Creative Community, which will act as the site’s cultural epicentre,
inspiring emerging designers and artists, and attracting tourists to the
area. This will be followed up with a waterfront development, with
international and design-led hotels, boutique retail concept stores and an
outdoor events space, as well as hospitality and leisure facilities.
