London – Spanish retail giant Zara could be preparing to roll out its
latest technological advances in a store near you sooner than you think, as
parent company Inditex has been testing a series of processed to simplify
your store experience, interactive fitting room system and self-check out
cash registers.
According to Refinery UK, who visited Inditex’s headquarters in Arteixo,
Spain earlier this year, there are even more technological innovations
underway aimed at improving the shopper’s overall in-store experience. A
Zara spokesperson confirmed to FashionUnited that the retailer has been
testing an interactive fitting room system in three of its stores (New
York, USA San Sebastián, Spain and Cologne Germany) over the past few
months.
The technological service, which aims to offer customers in-store support,
works via a tablet-style screens, installed in every fitting room. Each
tablet is linked to the fitting room entrance counter, making it easier for
each customer to request another size, colour or garment to try on.
Shoppers can also look up recommendations from Zara’s website or request
assistance from sales assistants in store. In addition, the system also
offers extra information on how many items of each product are in store and
where they are located.
In addition, Zara is said to be testing self-check out cash registers
system at its head office in Spain, with the aim of launching the system in
stores around the globe as of next year. The self-check out registers are
said to be slimmer and chic than those currently used by Tescos and
Sainsbury’s. However, exactly how and when fashion retailer aims to roll
out this service remains a question, as a company spokesperson claimed not
to have any more details on the matter.
