Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has told James Maddison he is in the best place to flourish amid continued interest from Manchester United.
The 22-year-old has made an impressive start to the Premier League campaign and as a result was called up by England, but was forced to withdraw from the squad through illness.
Maddison, believed to be valued at around the £70million mark, is wanted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2020 as United look to continue their investment in young English talent.
Rodgers, who previously admitted it would be hard for him to stop Maddison from joining the likes of United, is determined to keep hold of his midfielder.
“He’s a player that we very much want to keep here. He’s a very talented young player that has a lot of development to make over the coming years,” Rodgers said at his press conference.
“He recognises this is a great place for him to be, and gives him that opportunity to flourish and develop.
“Anything contractual, that will be between James’ representatives and the club. For me, my job is to coach them and make them better.”

The Foxes will be reluctant to lose Maddison anytime soon, having only signed him in a £24m deal from Norwich last summer.
However, the former Premier League champions are in a strong financial position having sold Harry Maguire to the Red Devils earlier this year for £80m.
