ANDAM, the National Association for the Development of Fashion Artists,
has named six emerging designers as the finalists for its annual fashion
award, which will see the winner scooping 250,000 euros to develop their
brand, as well as design and business support from this year’s sponsor,
Chloé.
The ANDAM Grand Prix 2016 competition will see more established labels
including Belgian designer Tim Coppens and Jacquemus helmed by Simon
Jacquemus, up against emerging names such as Aalto by Finnish designer
Tuomas Merikoski, Koché by Christelle Kocher, Wanda Nylon by Johanna Senyk
and streetwear label OAMC.
Three emerging labels have been shortlisted for the First Collections
Prize, seeing the newly launched Atlein by Antonin Tron, which debut during
Paris Fashion Week in March, nominated alongside Japanese designer Kenta
Matsushige and Harmony Paris. The winner will be awarded 100,000 euros.
For the Fashion Accessories Prize, the shortlisted designers are Amélie
Pichard, Hugo Matha, and Tomasini Paris, who will compete for the 40,000
euros prize.
The ANDAM competition is one of the fashion industry’s longest-running
competitions for fashion design launched in 1989. It’s previous winners
include Martin Margiela, Viktor and Rolf, Jeremy Scott and British designer
Gareth Pugh, and last year’s Grand Prix winner was Pigalle Paris designed
by Stéphane Ashpool.
The winner will be selected by a jury of 25 fashion insiders, including
Pierre Bergé, Bruno Pavlovsky of Chanel, Pamela Golbin, and Nadja
Swarovski, and announced on July 1.
