Pentland Brands, which owns brands including Berghaus, Canterbury of New
Zealand, Speedo, Ellesse, and Red or Dead, has been named as one of the
UK’s Best Workplaces 2016 by the Great Place to Work Institute.
Pentland was ranked 11th in the ‘best large company’ category and was
the highest ranking family company and the only sports, outdoor or fashion
brand-owner to make the 2016 list.
The Best Workplaces 2016 list is selected based on an independent Great
Place to Work Institute employee survey and a thorough analysis of all
aspects of organisational culture.
The results from the Pentland survey showed improvements on previous
years’ surveys with 88 percent saying it’s a ‘great place to work’, up from
84 percent in the previous survey conducted in 2013.
The survey also noted that 93 percent of people stated that they were
proud to tell others that they worked at Pentland, up from 90 percent,
while 85 percent said that the ‘people care about each other here’ and 83
percent noted that it was a fun place to work.
Pentland Brands chief executive officer, Andy Long, said: “As a
family-owned company, we care about people. If our employees feel valued
and engaged with the business, we’ll get the very best out of them, and
they’ll get the most out of their time with us.
“We’re always seeking to find the motivated people, who share our
values, to join our business – because, ultimately, it’s the people that
keep our culture unique and make this a great place to work.”
A study by the Great Place to Work Institute shows that 74 percent of
the companies ranked in the 2015 100 best workplaces reported profit
growth, compared to 50 percent of unlisted organisations.
