Freddie Ljungberg refused to confirm whether he wants the Arsenal job on a full-time basis after the club’s 2-2 draw with Norwich.
The Swede was placed in interim charge following Friday’s sacking of Unai Emery.
When asked if he wanted to succeed Emery permanently, Ljungberg told talkSPORT’s Ian Abrahams: “What I’m doing is helping the club I’ve been for 20 years with and that comes day by day.”
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice at Carrow Road as Ljungberg’s first game ended in a draw thanks to Todd Cantwell’s equaliser just before half-time.
The result extended Arsenal’s winless run to eight games as their defensive frailties were exposed yet again on Sunday.
Ljungberg admitted a draw was a fair result.
He said: “I always want to win, so I am disappointed we didn’t win.
“But if you look at the game, we started really well, but we got a bit tired in the end and disorganised and we tried to make some changes to change it, but it’s probably a fair result.
“I see, at least, things we talked about yesterday that they did well and other things we have to work on.”
Arsenal are eighth in the Premier League table and are seven points off a top-four spot.
