Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dismissed rumours that Erling Haaland is heading to Manchester United in January after reports claimed he had boarded a plane to Manchester on Friday.
The prolific Red Bull Salzburg striker has been continuously linked with a £76million move to Old Trafford and United head scout Marcel Bout was recently in attendance to watch the teenager in action against Liverpool in the Champions League.
Haaland played under fellow Norwegian Solskjaer at Molde before moving on to Austrian outfit Salzburg and many felt this gave United the upper hand in the quest for his signature.
However, Solskjaer, the United boss, has squashed any suggestions that the in-demand forward was flying in to discuss a move on Friday.
“Well… he’s not coming to Manchester. I know the boy and I know his friends and he’s on a Christmas holiday. You can’t fly anywhere from Stavanger, you need to go via via,” Solskjaer said at his press conference.
When asked if he would see Haaland before his apparent connecting flight, he replied: “No.
“You know I can’t comment on other teams’ players. I’ve said that many a time.

That’s just one of those things in this job – you get so much speculation all the time.
Former United striker Dimitar Berbatov believes the Red Devils would be making a mistake in signing the teenager.
“There are a lot of rumours about Haaland joining next month, but honestly at the moment, with the three upfront that United have, I don’t see where Haaland will fit in the team,” he told Betfair.
“When you buy someone what does it say about your current strikers who, in United’s case, are all young players? I think if it happens it will bring some unnecessary tension at the moment.
“For me [Marcus] Rashford, [Anthony] Martial, [Daniel] James and [Mason] Greenwood are great, great players. But also the question is, what happens if one or two of them get injured and you don’t have a replacement on the bench, so this is a tricky situation.”
