Mikel Arteta is ‘unlikely’ to get any money in the January transfer window, despite Arsenal’s growing injury crisis.
The Spaniard finally got his first win as Gunners boss with a convincing victory over Manchester United on New Year’s Day.
However, his first two games in charge saw the club pick up injuries as well as a lack of points. A draw at Bournemouth was followed by a sickening defeat to Chelsea, despite dominating at the Emirates.
Calum Chambers has now joined Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Gabriel Martinelli in the treatment room after his season-ending injury.
But, according to Sky Sports, the Spaniard will not be given funds to solve the injury crisis which has seen the likes of Ashley Maitland-Niles and Bakary Saka cover the full-back roles.
The north London side spent a whopping £140million on the likes of Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz and the aforementioned Tierney in the summer in an attempt to keep up with their rivals.
Arteta recently admitted he wanted to sign as many as two players in the transfer window to ease the burden on his beleaguered players.
“We need players back from injuries, first of all, to be more solid, more compact,” said Arteta.
“And then we might need to do one or two things if the right players become available, to help us. But at the moment I am more concerned with getting the maximum out of the players available to us.”
