New York – Carolina Herrera hasn’t run out of fresh ideas despite all her decades in
the industry. The acclaimed designer is launching a limited-edition capsule collection
inspired by Danny Sangra’s short film “Something Unpredictable.” The
mockumentary film about fashion is headlined by Kat Clements. The
Mytheresa.com x Carolina Herrera capsule collection will debut on the
e-commerce site on May 10.
Herrera also drew on her heritage for the collection. She took inspiration
from her atelier and her first runway show back in 1981.
“The collection is very reminiscent of the glamour from my first
collection,“ Herrera said to WWD. “It embodies the style and effortless
silhouettes, but with a modern spirit. I wanted to focus on pieces that
were uncomplicated in shape, allowing women to have fun making it their own
— fashion, after all, should be fun.”
Pieces in the collection include an asymmetrical gold lame gown, a maroon
velvet military jacket with matching skirt, and a zebra print silk shirt
dress. The collection also includes ruby and onyx jewelry and bejeweled
sneakers. Price points for the collection range from 250 dollars for
jewelry to 3700 dollars for a gown.
