American fashion retailer J.Crew is donating a portion of the sale price
of every men’s and women’s swimsuit sold during the month of May to support
skin cancer research, up to a total of 25,000 dollars.
Coinciding with Skin Cancer Awareness Month, J.Crew is partnering with
Melanoma Research Alliance and The Skin Cancer Foundation to raise vital
funds and raise awareness of skin cancer research and prevention, as well
as to highlight the importance of sun protection.
J. Crew president and creative director, Jenna Lyons said: “We’ve
decided to support skin cancer research and prevention for Skin Cancer
Awareness Month because it affects everyone. And it doesn’t hurt to know
you’re giving back and getting a new suit you love for the beach. We’re
counting the hours to summer, but no one wants to be counting sunburns.”
All J.Crew swimsuits are designed with UPF 50 sun protection and each
piece goes through rigorous hands-on testing, such as being dunked in salt
water and chlorinated water and receiving hours of UV exposure. The J.Crew
swim collection has nearly 100 different styles, which are available online
and in-store.
