Raf Simons, the former creative director of Dior, was the designer
everyone wanted to know more on, according to Google’s annual list of top
trending searches of 2015.
Simons wasn’t a surprise topping the chart, his shock departure from
Dior in October made headlines around the world, however, the second most
searched for designer, Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss may not be a household name
to most. Apparently 2015 was the year that nearly everyone wanted to know
about her swimwear line.
Rounding off the top ten most googled fashion designers are Giambattista
Valli, Thakoon Panichgul, Japanese designer Tadashi Shoji, Elie Saab, Karl
Lagerfeld, Christian Lacroix and Zuhair Murad.
The list shows that red carpet designers were hot topic this year,
Thakoon hit headlines dressing Michelle Obama for the opening of the new
Whitney Museum, and Elie Saab has dressing actresses including Cinderella’s
Lily James and Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks, and even Jennifer Lopez
to the Oscars, while Giambattista Valli has been worn by Kerry Washington,
Jessica Alba and Nicole Kidman this year.
The annual search also revealed the most googled fashion questions –
with ‘how to walk in heels?’ topping the chart. Other mentions in the top
ten include ‘how to fray jeans’, ‘how to tie a shirt’ and ‘what to wear
booties with’.
