The British Fashion Awards, which take place on November 23 in London,
has announced the nominees, with J.W. Anderson leading the pack with
nominations in both the womenswear and menswear design categories.
J.W. Anderson is up against Victoria Beckham and Christopher Kane in the
Womenswear Designer category, while his competition for Menswear Designer
is E. Tautz and Tom Ford.
Alexander McQueen, Anya Hindmarch, Burberry and Stella McCartney are up
for the best Brand Award, while Charlotte Olympia, Sophia Webster and
Tabitha Simmons will compete for the accessory award.
Christopher Kane and Tom Ford receive their second nomination in the Red
Carpet category, up against Erdem and Roksanda, while Céline, Burberry and
Givenchy compete for the creative campaign award.
There is also an honour for Establishment Designer of the Year with
Erdem competing against Margaret Howell and Paul Smith, while New
Establishment Designer is between Craig Green, Emilia Wickstead and Mary
Katrantzou.
There are a number of categories celebrating emerging designers:
Faustine Steinmetz, Molly Goddard and Thomas Tait are contenders for the
Emerging Womenswear Designer award; Astrid Andersen, Grace Wales Bonner and
Mr Hare have been nominated for the Emerging Menswear Designer accolade;
and Charlotte Simone, Fernando Jorge and Jordan Askill compete for the
Emerging Accessory Designer award.
Additional awards on the night will be awarded to outstanding
achievement, British style, International designer, Model, as well as the
Isabella Blow award for fashion creator.
Natalie Massenet, Chairman of the BFC, said: “This annual event is fast
becoming one of the highlights of the global fashion calendar. The awards
recognise the incredible talent we are so fortunate to work with and
celebrates the excellence and creativity within our industry both at home
and abroad.”
