Renee Young, Booker T, Big E, and Xavier Woods revealed the set on tonight’s “blue carpet” kickoff special, which featured Young and Booker T hosting the broadcast inside of the Staples Center and FOX Sports’ Charissa Thompson doing interviews outside of the building.
SmackDown and Raw both got new sets and other presentation elements this week. Both shows have new theme songs as well. The theme for SmackDown on FOX is “Are You Ready” by AC/DC, while Raw’s new theme is “Legendary” by Skillet.
New commentary teams for Raw and SmackDown also went into effect this week. Vic Joseph, Dio Maddin, and Jerry “The King” Lawler are calling Raw, while Michael Cole and Corey Graves are calling SmackDown.
WWE has also announced that Renee Young will be a “special contributor” for SmackDown.
In addition to the blue carpet special, there was a pre-show match at the Staples Center before SmackDown tonight. Ali defeated Buddy Murphy.
