STAFFORD, CT — Here’s a little bit of Stafford history.
Public safety officials tell us that the Stafford Fire Department No. 1, came about in 1934, by a group of men who lived and worked in the Staffordville section of town.
With the help of local people and businesses like B. Schwanda and Son, The Thomas Jefferson Club, the department was able to acquire a firehouse.
The firehouse was funded all though donations.
Fire officials said that is the way they hope to raise money for “a future fire house.”
