Following last night’s NXT Takeover: Phoenix event, Triple H took
part in a conference call, and he spilled the beans on a couple of
different topics that fans have been interested in. One of those had to
do with Abyss and Sonjay Dutt’s recent departures from Impact Wrestling.
Both men have been heavily rumored to be WWE bound over the past few
days. Sure enough, “The Game” has confirmed that both men are indeed on
their way to WWE. Triple H indicated that they will be working for the
company as backstage producers, but he did not reveal when they will
begin working for the company. Both men are veterans in the wrestling
industry, so Triple H is excited to see what they will bring to the
table once they are part of the fold.
During that same call, Triple H was asked about the possibility of the NXT women’s division receiving their own set of tag team titles. Earlier this year, WWE announced that the company would be bringing back the Women’s Tag Team Championships for the women of Raw and SmackDown, and the new titleholders will be determined at this year’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. As far as NXT goes, Triple H says that it is a possibility for the future. Although he believes that the women are talented enough for the titles, he also stated that he does not believe that there are enough women in NXT for a tag team division to be meaningful right now. For the foreseeable future, the NXT Women’s Championship is the sole prize for the women of NXT.
The Elite have just invaded another independent wrestling event. This time, Cody Rhodes and Adam Page made a surprise appearance during a Northeast Wrestling event this past Saturday night. This is just the latest unannounced appearance from the members of The Elite as The Young Bucks also showed up at Defy Wrestling event earlier this month with no prior announcement. The Elite are hoping to change the landscape of pro wrestling with the launch of the new All Elite Wrestling promotion, so perhaps these shocking cameos are being done to help hype up AEW. Rhodes and Page wreaked havoc upon arriving in NEW, and some footage taken by fans in attendance at last night’s show can be viewed down below:
