Barcelona are set to complete a £107m deal to sign Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann – but not until a release clause in his contract kicks in on July 1.
Reports claim the Frenchman agreed personal terms with the LaLiga champions two months ago, but his release clause has delayed the completion of his highly-anticipated switch.
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has denied that an agreement is already in place with the France forward, but according to the Telegraph all has been finalised and the move will be done next week.
Griezmann recently announced he will leave Atletico this summer despite only signing a five-year contract extension last year.
Back in June 2018, the 28-year-old rejected a move to the Nou Camp in a bizarre TV programme called The Decision, before making a dramatic U-turn just 12 months later.
Griezmann’s imminent arrival could see Barcelona end their interest in Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.

The former Barca forward has been linked with a return to the Nou Camp, but it would take a world-record fee to bring him back.
Ironically, the Brazilian is already the most expensive player of all time after the Catalans sold him to PSG for £198m in 2017.
The Spanish giants could seek to shift their under-performing stars, such as Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele, in order to raise funds for Neymar.
