Arsenal have made an improved £25million offer for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney.
The Gunners had initially offered £15m for the Scotland international, but this was rejected by the Hoops in June, who notified the Premier League side that their current valuation is nowhere near enough to land the 22-year-old.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon insisted the club are in no need to sell any of their players.
If Tierney was to leave, he would become the most expensive player in Scottish football history, eclipsing the £19.7m Celtic received from Lyon for Moussa Dembele in 2018.
Lennon said last month: “Arsenal are aware of what we value the player at. He’s on a long-term contract, he’s an asset and we don’t want to sell him.
“It’s going to have to take a lot more than what they’ve offered the first time around to give us a decision to make.
“I’ve had a chat with him as it can be a difficult decision and bit unsettling. I’ve been there myself so it’s important that we support him regardless of the outcome.”
Ex-Celtic ace Chris Sutton had slammed Arsenal for their offer, calling the first bid ‘disgusting contempt’.
Tierney, who is under contract with the Bhoys until the summer of 2023, made 20 Scottish Premiership appearances last season, assisting five goals as Celtic won their third consecutive treble and is highly-rated at Parkhead.
Failure to qualify for the Champions League has left Arsenal with a measly £40m transfer budget.
