Arsenal were given fresh hope of landing Wilfried Zaha when Crystal Palace launched their new away kit without the wantaway star.
Zaha, who is currently on international duty with Ivory Coast, was subject to a £40million bid from the Gunners earlier this month.
The 26-year-old is desperate to join Arsenal – his boyhood club – but Palace value their star player at closer to £100m.
It seems the club may be resigned to losing him, though, after he failed to appear in the launch video for their new away kit.
Zaha is the poster boy at Selhurst Park and would usually feature at the forefront of such campaigns.
While it is possible the advert may have been filmed with the Ivorian away at AFCON, his absence hasn’t gone unnoticed by Palace fans on Twitter, who are beginning to fear the worst.
Aside from Zaha’s omission, Palace fans were generally thrilled with their new black strip, as the club moves away from the yellow of last season.
Arsenal are expected to come back with a fresh offer for the player, despite their reported transfer budget of £45m.
talkSPORT host Darren Lewis questions their supposed cash limitations, using their activity this summer to suggest the Gunners have more money than they’re letting on.
“I think Arsenal have got more money than they’re making out,” he said.
“If you’re bidding £20million for William Saliba, £17million for Kieran Tierney and £40million for Zaha, then you’ve got more money than you’re making out.”
