SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana wrestling team will finish up the 2017-18 regular season with a dual against No. 1 St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, Minn. on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. at Halenbeck Hall.
The Vikings and Huskies will battle it out for the top spot in the NSIC. If Augustana defeats St. Cloud State, the two teams will split the NSIC regular season title. If the Huskies wins, they will win the title outright. Augustana is 11-3 (6-1 NSIC) in duals on the year and sits alone in second in the NSIC standings.
Senior Aero Amo leads Augustana as the lone Viking ranked in the NWCA DII Individual Rankings that came out on Jan. 18. Amo sits at No. 7 at 184 pounds with a record of 9-2 and a dual record of 9-1 (7-0 NSIC) on the season. As a team, Augustana is receiving votes in the NWCA DII Top-25 Poll.
Clayton Wahlstrom leads the team with 22 wins at 197 pounds with a record of 22-9 and 10-3 (5-1 NSIC) in duals and Oscar Ramirez Jr. has the top dual record of 12-2 (6-1 NSIC) at 149 pounds and is 17-9 overall.
Amo and Regan Bye (165) are each perfect in NSIC duals this season and Wahlstrom, Ramirez and Keaten Schorr (141) have only one blemish in NSIC Duals. Bye is 16-9 overall and 8-2 (6-0 NSIC) in duals and Schorr is 18-4 overall and 5-1 in NSIC duals in his freshman campaign.
Last Time Out
Augustana drops its first NSIC dual of the season on Feb. 11 in Fayette, Iowa to No. 6 Upper Iowa, 22-15. The dual came down to heavyweight for the second consecutive season, but Upper Iowa prevailed in the match and the dual.
Regan Bye (165) picked up a third period pin to give the Vikings their lone bonus point victory of the dual. Keaten Schorr (141), Aero Amo (184) and Clayton Wahlstrom (197) each picked up decisions.

Scouting St. Cloud State
St. Cloud State comes into its final regular season match against Augustana with a perfect 18-0 (7-0 NSIC) dual record on the season. The Huskies have the top ranked team in Division II and have nine individually ranked wrestlers.
The Huskies are led by a pair of top ranked wrestlers in James Pleski (21-1 at 149) and Larry Bomstad (21-2 at 157). Jarred Oftedahl (23-2 at 141) and Kolton Eischens (25-3 at 174) are ranked third at their respective weight classes.
Ranked No. 5 at 125 is two-time All-American and 2016 National Champion Brett Velasquez (21-2). Ranked sixth at their respective weight classes are Travis Holt (20-3 at 165) and Vince Dietz (26-2 at 197). Rounding out the ranked Husky wrestlers are Brady Nelson, eighth at 184 (7-2), and Lawrence Phillips, 10th at heavyweight (24-4).
Next Up
Augustana will conclude the regular season on Thursday and will return to action for the Super Region 3 Championships on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24 in St. Cloud, Minn.
