The future of WWE 205 Live has been up in the air ever since Smackdown’s move to Friday nights on FOX, and while that is still the case long-term, it would appear there is at least a temporary plan in place.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the show will continue to air on the WWE Network at 10:00 PM immediately following Smackdown, at least for the time being. That starts next Friday night, but it should be stressed that this is only a short-term fix.
While WWE ultimately opt to keep 205 Live in that late Friday evening timeslot going forward, it is only one of several ideas going around right now. Several sources have even noted that it may be taken off the air altogether, which the Observer also noted.
We saw last week that Cruiserweight matches may be a part of the NXT brand going forward, as even Triple H himself noted that parts of 205 Live will be folded into the expanded NXT universe. We have already seen Lio Rush win a #1 contender’s match for a shot at the Cruiserweight title.
It was recently announced that Vic Joseph and Dio Maddin, two thirds of the current 205 Live commentary team, are moving to Monday Night Raw starting with next week’s season premiere. Michael Cole and Corey Graves will take over for Smackdown, so it will be interesting to see what happens with that situation.
