Singer Beth Ditto is launching her first stand-alone fashion collection
globally on February 15 via her own e-commerce and with Selfridges in the
UK.
The eleven-piece plus-size collection is inspired by the Gossip singer’s
love of vintage and combines vibrant pop-art prints in silks and rayons,
with vintage-detail dresses, tailored pencil skirts, leggings, and
hand-embroidered, vintage-sourced denim jackets. The line, which is
celebrating “beauty at any size” will be available in UK sizes 18-32 (US
sizes 14-28).
The full debut stand-alone collection follows the singer’s collaboration
with French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier in December to create an
oversized dress-length “corset tee”. The T-shirt, which is available from
Ditto’s website is also donating a portion of proceeds to benefit Girls
Rock Camp Foundation, a charity which helps girls develop life skills,
creative expression and collaboration.
The Gossip frontwoman previously collaborated with plus-size womenswear
retailer Evans.
Commenting on her debut collection, Ditto said: “I wanted to make pieces
to last years. Beyond trends, beyond chain stores. I wanted to create
something all its own, something just for us, made with love and
consideration. Made ethically in the USA as a small company with no big
corporate input. Uncompromising, unapologetic, and timeless. Go-to pieces
designed to last. A movement by us, for us.”
To launch the collection, Ditto stars alongside outspoken plus-size
models Barbie Ferreria and Philomena Kwao in a campaign styled by Katie
Grand and shot by Ezra Petronio.
The Beth Ditto collection will be available from February 15 on
BethDitto.com and at Selfridges.
