Manchester United are yet to make an opening bid for Sporting Libson midfielder Bruno Fernandes, the Portuguese side have revealed.
Rumours circulated on Tuesday that United had submitted an offer to the Primeira Liga club through the player’s agent Miguel Pinho, but Sporting have quickly moved to reject those claims.
A club spokesperson told Portuguese publication RTP: “The rumours are completely false,” as this long-standing transfer saga continuing to rumble on.
Fernandes has also been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham in this transfer window after scoring a record-breaking 31 goals in the Portuguese top-flight last season, however, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful one or two more signings are completed before the summer window shuts.

Sporting boss Marcel Keizer recently hinted the 24-year-old is likely to move on before the August 8 deadline.
“We’ll see if we can keep our players and then we’ll see what we do,” he said.
“I hope he [Fernandes] stays, of course, like everyone else at Sporting, but we don’t know.”
Fernandes could not hold back the tears when he was substituted during Sporting’s pre-season friendly against Valencia on Sunday and appeared to wave goodbye to the crowd after the game.
Meanwhile, United take on AC Milan in Cardiff in their final pre-season game on Saturday.
