Two of the biggest teams in the land go head-to-head on Saturday when Manchester City welcome arch-rivals United to the Etihad.
Saturday is GameDay on talkSPORT and we’re absolutely spoiling you with our three live commentaries this weekend.
After Chelsea travel to Everton and Burnley head to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, we’ll bring you exclusive radio commentary of the Manchester derby at 5.30pm.
Power in the North West has changed hands over the past decade, with City emerging as the dominant force in English football while United have fallen into obscurity during the post-Fergie era.
The two clubs shared six Premier League titles during ‘The Tens’, with City claiming four of those, and the Red Devils will hope to redress the balance at least a little bit on Saturday.
But as we reflect on the decade, who were the standout performers?
We asked talkSPORT presenter Adrian Durham to select a combined XI of the best players in Manchester over the past decade and here’s what he came up with.
Immediately striking is the omission of Manchester United’s all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney in favour of Carlos Tevez.
The Argentine broke United hearts by joining fierce rivals City at the turn of the decade and helped them to the title during the dramatic 2011/12 season. So he’s difficult to leave out.
Kyle Walker over Pablo Zabaleta might also turn a few heads and, of course, Durham has included Michael Carrick, his favourite player of all time.
We’ll leave you with a poem the talkSPORT host wrote about Carrick in 2018.
A poem by Adrian Durham
Michael Carrick, midfield maestro
Fergie’s general, England’s sideshow
Passmaster and perfect professional
I love Carrick so much I’ve become a bit obsessional
No restraining order needed – maybe a confessional
Five Premier League titles and a Champions League
An FA Cup two years ago, all honours guaranteed
Fergie always picked him, and filled his trophy cabinet
Yet useless England managers thought he was inadequate
The player England needed was my main man Michael Carrick
Sven and Fabio ignored him, it bordered on barbaric
Manchester United legend, more than ten years at the top
An amazing career but sadly time to stop
Gonna miss you, Michael
A proper Fergie disciple
